More on Ozone and Lungs

03-oxygenA research report from Cuba, where ozone therapy is used extensively, recognizes that higher ozone levels in air are an irritant to the lungs. An experiment with animals is reported, however, in “Ozone Vs Ozone Therapy: The Paradox.” Inhaling low doses of ozone during long periods of time resulted in lung tolerance to higher levels of ozone. Apparently, ozone over time creates the necessary enzymes that prevent irritation of the lungs.
